Welcome to my blog! I never really thought I would create a blog untill hubby set up a family one. I started posting to it and was told off for "hijacking" it with my "craft rubbish!" And so the Nerdbird Blog was born! Not sure how much I'll post but I understand that this blogging lark can be addictive!

A to Z - J and K and No place like home

K : (I am a Big) Kid
J : I love Jewellery
Finally finished a mini book for the "No Place Like Home" course! It was about the rooms in our house, there was a journal download for each room, which in some cases I printed out on card and put on the page or where I had 2+ photos I printed it on a transparency. Here are some of the pages.

365 Day Challenge 182

Prompt 182: "Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”
I like to believe that I am a kind person. I always try and treat others as I would expect to be treated and try to help others when I can - often putting others before myself

Been busy again tonight! This time with the Bad Girls June kit. Several of these are killing 2 birds with 1 stone!

First Challenge from the summer workshop was to use Pencil Lines sketch 87.
Another Challenge was to use paint (one for you Willow!) I have then used the first challenge over on Scrap Schemes (thanks Fay) for the inspiration - I took the red and pink colour scheme.
Also used this LO for challenge 12 over at TDX, which was to scrap a constant in your life, which is my best friends

Lastly using the Jan Bad Girls get I did a LO for Challenge 13 over at TDX, this was to scrap a word or saying you use all the time
I didn't realise I said "whatever" alot until Will said it to me the other day ! opps!

365 Day Challenge 180 & 181

Prompt 181: They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.”
The boys tick all 3 of these boxes, I love them, they certainly give me lots to do and no matter how bad things get they always give me hope and a reason to carry on.

Prompt 180: "The Heart, the Brain and the Body" - What do yours say about you?
Well today they are all very happy! Had a lovely day out just the 4 of us at a theme park. Here Will and I are enjoying the chair swings! (I had to go on on my own first to show Will it was ok!).
My body is larger and wobbles more than I would like. I have a big heart and it does tend to rule my head. But for the most part I am quite sensible - my dad used to say I was a "little old lady cut down short" So I guess I have always been "old" for my age.

Camping Mini book

Made this mini book about our camping trip in May. Used Maya Road little chipboard book and the Love Elsie papers. Here are some of the pages

365 Day Challenge 176 - 179

3 is the magic number this week
Prompt 179: "Past, Present, Future"

I do have an "interesting" past and I do think that for all it's ups and downs I am the person I am today because of those past experiences. As for the future well, who knows? My future is certainly looking very different from the future I had envisioned a couple of years ago, I didn't see myself being a full time mum, and I certainly didn't see my future with out my Mum but I have learnt that you don't know what the future holds so you need to make the most of your present.

Prompt 178: "Me , Myself and I"I enjoy time on my own, I always have. As a child I could entertain myself for hours, and as a teenage I would spend hours in my room on my own. I have learnt as an adult that actually having some "me time" is actually something I need, luckily Mike understands this and doesn't take it personally!

Prompt 177: "See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil"I see and hear evil in the world and I have had evil in my life but I try really hard not to speak any evil.

Prompt 176: "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly"Humm I like to think I am a good person for the most part and hopefully most of me is good! However I am not perfect! My worst bad points are I am untidy, I may forgive but I NEVER forget.
My worst Ugly points I am stroppy, stubborn and my temper (if it ever appears) is nasty

365 Day Challenge 170 - 172

Prompt 172: Hard Days Night - What kind of day have you had?
Had a hard day! Been sorting out the garden - just had decking put in so have been out and brought some new plants and potted them all - and now my back hurts!

Prompt 171: When I'm sixty four - A great lyric to reflect on relationships or maybe the future
I am from a younger generation but I still believe that marriage is for life. I come from a divorced home and I think that has made me more determind for mine to work. I hope that we have the strength to work through the bad times and to still be together when we are 64

Prompt 170: Penny Lane - Time to reflect on where we live

Just 2 LO's tonight!

Just the 2 tonight!
First used the photo from day's 365 prompt. put some blobs of paint on but they didn't really look like splatters that I wanted but I can't take them off now!
I was looking for some other photos and I found this one of Mum. It is the last photo I have of her. Hidden journalling is about my feelings looking at the photo and looking back at that time, does she look ill, did I miss something. I love that she looks happy.

More LO's!

Clearly on some kind of mission this week!
Firstly 2 365 LO's
LO 24:
LO 23:
Felt the need to do a LO of Mum
Quick one of Will
Can't believe how much he has changed!

Another LO

Using another old photo and this weeks pencil lines sketch
Dad had a knack of setting the bbq on fire!
"Fire" is made of clear letters with paint daubers, glitter and glossy accents. Paint stripes are daubers with pearlescent paint over the top.
can you spot me in my groovy socks and red shorts!

365 Day Challenge 167 & 168

Prompt 168: “Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart.”
Prompt 167: “We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.”

Sunday, 15 June 2008

Had a busy night.
Weekly Challenge on UKS - use childhood photo, pink, stripes (alos something metal and something recycled which I didn't do!)This is me very scared on a very high Big Wheel, it's one of my Dad's fav photos of me. LO was inspired by butterbee in my 365 group, her LO used the florish stamps around the LO edge.

So having been rifling through all the old photo's I found SO many I want to scrap. Here is one of my brother and I, checkout the 'ttude (NOT!)Another 365'er did a LO extending the pp (Mary Buttons) so here is my attempt at the same. Just Will and I being silly. Lastly a LO of Mum and IJournalling is about how Mum and I look alike but we always say personality wise I am 80% Dad, however I have come to realise that is not quite the case as I see more and more of Mum in me than I ever realised (or wanted to admit!)
LO inspired by kit image from old Mod Scraps kit

365 Day Challenge 165 & 166

Prompt 166: “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.” - Rediscover the joys of being a child today
I am a big kid alot of the time. I am the one in the ball pool or coming down a slide - I like having the excuse to be able to play in parks and the like.

Prompt 165: “You miss 100% of the shots you never take.”
How many times have I wished I'd had my camera! I try and take my little compace everywhere these days but I do still miss a fantastic shot here and there
